This was an easy and fun craft I made with my daughter as a birthday gift to my husband. Normally I would have had him do his own thumbprint, but since it was a gift I did mine and his, and my daughter did hers. I personally like the contrast of the white on black but you can use any colors you like on a white canvas as well. It's pretty basic, use either an ink pad, or paint to make your thumbprints. If using paint make sure you don't have too much paint on the thumb, I suggest doing a few on scrap paper first so you can see how much paint works best for you. Once the thumbprints are dry add details to make the thumbprints specific to the person they represent. I wear purple cat glasses so that was a no brainer! I did a simple background, but you can get as elaborate as you desire. These can be done for holidays, to represent specific sports teams, pretty much anything you can think of. I have made some as gifts, having the kids do their own thumbprints for the parents or grandparents I was making the pictures for. I got a small wooden easel to place ours on and it's on a table at the entry of our house.
